Did You Know?

The Vineyard Mid-Atlantic project is located within one of the six offshore wind lease areas in the New York Bight, identified as OCS-A 0544. The proposed development aims to construct a wind farm with up to 117 turbines, delivering a total installed capacity of more than 2 GW—enough to power over 700,000 homes, according to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM). Vineyard Offshore’s plan includes up to two potential export cable corridors, with landfall options at Rockaway Beach, Atlantic Beach, or Jones Beach, New York.

BOEM recently announced the initiation of the environmental review process for the project’s Construction and Operations Plan (COP). This comes just months after the agency finalized a Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS) assessing the potential environmental impacts of offshore wind development across the six lease areas in the New York Bight.
