Long Island IWA FutureReady Program Kickoff & Press Conference – Mon. June 23, 2025 – 9am | Cradle of Aviation Museum, Garden City, NY

Melville, NY – The Institute for Workforce Advancement (IWA) is proud to introduce its FutureReady Workforce Training Program, a pivotal initiative designed to prepare residents of Long Island and New York City for high-growth careers in renewable energy, manufacturing, and drone aviation. Funded by the New York Power Authority (NYPA), FutureReady seeks to address workforce shortages by training local talent for essential industries, driving job creation, and boosting regional economic development.

The FutureReady Workforce Training Program will officially launch with an event bringing together industry leaders, educators, and policymakers to discuss workforce development strategies and career pathways.

2025 Summer Training Locations

The FutureReady Workforce Training Program will host 40-hour immersive training sessions across Long Island and New York City during the summer. Training will take place Monday through Friday at the following locations.

Renewable energy will add over $500 million to the economy, boosting demand for skilled technicians and engineers. FutureReady-trained professionals will support infrastructure and efficiency improvements.

Advanced manufacturing is projected to generate $1 billion and create 3,000 Long Island jobs by 2030. FutureReady prepares workers for high-paying roles in composite manufacturing and automation.

Drone aviation, growing at 15% annually, offers career opportunities in surveying, environmental monitoring, and infrastructure inspection. Investment continues to rise, creating demand for trained pilots and technicians.

FutureReady strengthens local workforce development, supporting long-term economic stability and growth in emerging industries.

About FutureReady

Participants in the FutureReady Workforce Training Program will engage in intensive, hands-on training designed to provide real-world experience in high-growth sectors. Over fifteen one-week sessions, trainees will receive expert instruction in composite manufacturing, drone applications, renewable energy technologies, and essential job-readiness skills.

Additionally, FutureReady offers internship and apprenticeship opportunities, ensuring graduates gain practical experience and direct access to career networks. Each participant will receive a four-hundred-dollar stipend upon successful completion of their training.

New York City Launch in August

Following the summer training sessions, FutureReady will officially launch its New York City initiative in August 2025, expanding workforce training access across the five boroughs. The official program launch will take place from August 18 to August 22, 2025, with additional details on the Harlem location to be announced soon.
