This year’s theme, “Preserving the Legacy of Equity” holds profound significance for us. this year’s theme compels us to recommit ourselves to a collective mission — building and safeguarding an equitable New York for all. In the face of recent legislative changes that may pose challenges to our vision, this gala becomes a crucial platform. It is an opportunity to amplify the voices of those who persistently advocate for affordable housing, economic development, quality healthcare, safety, and education across every corner of our state.
The Big Apple Gala also holds a special significance, as it marks a farewell and tribute to the pioneering spirit of LISC’s President, Denise Scott, whose unwavering dedication has left an indelible mark on our organization and the pursuit of equity. After over two decades of dedicated service to the organization, Denise is retiring, leaving behind a legacy of transformative leadership and unwavering commitment to the advancement of LISC’s mission.
