Spring has been a season of momentum for Attentive Energy, as the team embarked on a statewide journey to foster education, community engagement, and discussions on New Jersey’s energy future. From classrooms to conferences, the organization has been dedicated to inspiring the next generation and broadening awareness of offshore wind energy.
Empowering Youth Through STEM
Attentive Energy’s commitment to education took center stage in May with the Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless hosting its first Youth Science Fair. Students showcased their knowledge of environmental science topics, including wind energy and natural phenomena like hurricanes and erosion. The judges from Attentive Energy had a tough time selecting winners, as the creativity and dedication of the young participants were remarkable.
Further supporting youth education, Attentive Energy joined forces with the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore for the Good Neighbor Community Awards ceremony. This recognition highlighted the organization’s ongoing partnership with the Girl Scouts in advancing STEM education and young women’s leadership. The unveiling of the Innovation Station mobile van, supported in part by Attentive Energy, was a key moment in showcasing the potential of hands-on learning experiences.
Community Conversations and Environmental Advocacy
The Sustainable New Jersey Annual Summit provided Attentive Energy with the perfect platform to engage with municipal and civic leaders about offshore wind development. Virtual reality activities, project updates, and career trading cards brought to life the opportunities within the renewable energy industry.
At EarthFest, hosted by Hackensack Riverkeeper, environmental conservation groups gathered to discuss sustainability efforts and New Jersey’s offshore wind potential. The synergy between conservation initiatives and offshore wind energy took center stage in meaningful exchanges with festivalgoers.
Inspiring the Future Workforce
Wrapping up May, Attentive Energy participated in the Alternative Energy Symposium at Rowan University’s Green Jobs Academy. High school students explored clean energy careers through workshops and speaker panels featuring industry professionals. With discussions focused on transmission and electrical engineering, attendees gained valuable insights into the evolving energy sector.
Offshore Wind Career Trading Cards: Educating and Inspiring
In an effort to illustrate the diverse career pathways available in offshore wind, Attentive Energy continues to promote its Offshore Wind Career Trading Cards. The collection of 14 trading cards provides detailed descriptions of specific industry roles, equipping students and job seekers with the knowledge needed to pursue careers in clean energy.
