Demolition Of Beaver Stadium Press Box Signals Start Of Major Renovation

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.– The demolition of the Beaver Stadium press box marks the beginning of a large-scale revitalization effort on the upper West side of Beaver Stadium. Over the next six weeks, workers will be on site around the clock, seven days a week, to demolish, clear, and prepare the area for construction, setting the stage for significant improvements ahead of the 2025 football season.

The Beaver Stadium press box, a significant piece of Penn State history, was originally part of New Beaver Field. After the 1959 season, it was relocated, along with the grandstands, to Beaver Stadium. In 1980, the press box was expanded to nearly double its size with additions on both sides of the original structure, establishing the current configuration.

About Beaver Stadium Revitalization

The Penn State Board of Trustees approved a $700 million renovation project for Beaver Stadium in May 2024. This transformational investment will enhance the experience for fans and the community while providing sustainable funding for all 31 athletics programs at Penn State.

The revitalization project is designed to support year-round use of Beaver Stadium, fostering economic growth and development in the surrounding region. Renovations commenced on the West side of the stadium on December 22, 2024, with phased improvements slated for completion by the 2027 season.

A New Era for Penn State Athletics

The Beaver Stadium renovation represents a bold step forward for Penn State athletics and the broader community. By modernizing facilities and expanding opportunities for stadium utilization, the project underscores Penn State’s commitment to innovation, excellence, and community engagement.
