Hellenic Cables, a division of Cenergy Holdings, has been awarded a contract to supply 65 kilometres of 132 kV inter-array cables for the Leading Light Wind project. This project, one of the largest U.S. offshore wind developments, is located over 40 miles off the coast of New Jersey and is expected to generate 2,400 MW of renewable energy, enough to power one million homes annually.
The project, led by Invenergy and energyRe, is the only American-led initiative in the New York Bight lease area. It will contribute significantly to reducing carbon emissions, offsetting around 4 million tons of CO2 each year when operational. Hellenic Cables will begin producing key components immediately at its facility in Corinth, Greece, with final delivery planned for 2030. The announcement strengthens Hellenic Cables’ position as a key player in the global renewable energy supply chain.
“We are honoured to collaborate on this landmark project, which reinforces our commitment to sustainability and innovation,” said Alexis Alexiou, CEO of Cenergy Holdings.
This partnership also supports the growth of the U.S. offshore wind sector, creating local jobs and stimulating economic development, aligning with broader industry trends. The U.S. offshore wind industry continues to gain momentum, with states like New Jersey aiming for ambitious clean energy targets, further emphasising the importance of supply chain collaborations like this one.
