Inspira Health Breaks Ground on Mullica Hill Medical Center Expansion

South Jersey Health System ushers in new era by embarking on multi-year project adding 168,000 square feet of clinical space, and more parking to Mullica Hill campus, to answer rapid and projected patient growth and offer next generation care.

Inspira Health celebrated the groundbreaking of its Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill expansion, which when complete, will add 168,000-square-feet to the campus. This expansion project includes a new 150,000 square foot 5-story wing that will extend out toward Rt. 55, an overbuild to the right of the hospital’s main entrance, the renovation of various clinical and non-clinical spaces on the first floor, and expanded parking capacity.

The Mullica Hill project will allow Inspira to expand its capabilities and enhance its services, ensuring greater capacity at its Gloucester County hospital. Services that will be expanded and enhanced on the campus include the Intensive Care Unit, Medical/Surgical, Maternal Child Health, Observation, Imaging (MRI and CT), Interventional Radiology, and Graduate Medical Education (including a simulation lab for hospital residents).

“As a leading health care provider, we are always looking to propel the organization forward to ensure sustainable growth for the long term,” said Warren E. Moore, FACHE, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Inspira Health. “Today, we are excited to officially break ground on this new multi-year initiative to continue providing advanced care for our community through an expanded Mullica Hill campus. I want to thank our partners for their ongoing support on this major project that will have a lasting impact for years to come for Gloucester County and the South Jersey region.”

With a $240 million investment, Inspira is making a significant economic impact through the Mullica Hill expansion. The project will create 500 jobs for tradespersons during the construction phase, and over 100 new permanent positions upon completion. The first phase of construction will include the new wing, the overbuild that will expand maternity services, and parking lot expansion. Renovation of existing space will begin in the Fall of 2026. The new wing and overbuild are expected to be open for patients in the first quarter of 2027. Several areas of the new construction will be shelled out for future expansion projects.

“Our focus remains steadfast on continuing to provide outstanding patient outcomes, compassionate care, and continually evolving to meet the ever-changing needs of the Southern New Jersey communities we serve,” said Lydia Stockman, Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, Inspira Medical Centers. “We are excited to start this project, which marks a new era for Inspira Health and the surrounding communities. When completed, this expansion will allow us to care for even more members of our community and provide our clinical teams with an expanded environment for our patients, for years to come.”

Inspira marked the project’s groundbreaking with a celebratory event featuring elected officials, organizational leadership, clinicians, and community partners.
