Wyandanch Rising, led by the Albanese Organization in partnership with the Town of Babylon, is a transit-oriented redevelopment project designed to deliver significant economic, workforce, and community benefits. With over $500 million in planned public and private investments, the project aims to transform Wyandanch into a hub for sustainable growth.

Economically, the development should generate new commercial spaces and increase property values, enhancing the local tax base. It is expected to boost retail activity and attract private sector investments that support long-term economic stability in the region.

In terms of workforce benefits, the project is anticipated to create a substantial number of construction jobs during development and permanent roles in industries such as retail, hospitality, and public services. Local hiring initiatives are a priority, offering opportunities for residents in Suffolk County and surrounding areas.

The community is set to benefit from increased access to affordable housing, improved transportation infrastructure through upgrades to the Long Island Rail Road station, and public spaces such as the Wyandanch Plaza. These features should foster connectivity and a higher quality of life. Additionally, the project is designed to promote inclusivity, spur small business growth, and improve public safety through thoughtful urban design and resource allocation.

Did You Know? Public-private development projects include local content and/or domestic content requirements established by government regulators to enable development project owners to secure real estate, long-term leases, public funding for capital or operations, and/or tax incentives from federal, state, or local authorities. In return for these incentives, development project owners are required to meet objectives such as contracting with small businesses, creating good-paying jobs, and delivering community benefit investments to enhance the quality of life for local stakeholders.
