Albany, NY. – The New York Offshore Wind Alliance (NYOWA) is excited to announce the hiring of Nick Guariglia as Outreach Manager. A Long Island native, Nick will help educate communities on the benefits that come with offshore wind as a safe and reliable energy source.
In 2023, NYOWA leadership recognized that more effort was needed to counteract the misinformation being propagated about offshore wind, and that genuine questions were getting lost in misinformation. As Outreach Manager, Nick will connect with community groups, elected officials, and residents to share information about the economic, environmental and grid- related benefits of offshore wind development and the work being done to create a healthier environment for all.
Nick has a background in local government and community relations on Long Island working for both the Nassau County Legislature and the Town of North Hempstead.
“I am excited to join NYOWA and engage with Long Island to educate and garner support for renewable energy. Offshore wind is an important source of reliable, clean energy, and expanding this industry is important as New York State strives to meet the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act’s energy mandates.” said Nick Guariglia, Outreach Manager for NYOWA.
“Bringing Nick on board at NYOWA will serve an important role as New York’s offshore wind industry goes from paper to construction,” said Fred Zalcman, director of NYOWA. “These are massive projects that will provide innumerable benefits not only to Long Island residents, but to New York as a whole. Nick will help spread this message as an ambassador for the industry.”
While his work will have a focus on Long Island and New York’s outer boroughs, Nick will work with communities across downstate and the Hudson River who will be involved in supply chain investments and workforce development. Nick officially joined the team in mid-February.
