Staten Island, NY – The Staten Island Economic Development Corporation (SIEDC) and Staten Island Industrial Alliance (SIIA) have formalized a partnership through a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aimed at advancing industrial and sustainable infrastructure projects in Staten Island.
With SIEDC’s leading efforts in economic development, business attraction, and investment strategies, and SIIA’s specialized expertise in navigating sustainability policies and advocating for compliance, this collaboration is designed to achieve several key objectives that will significantly enhance the borough’s infrastructure and business landscape:
- 1. SIIA Expertise in Infrastructure and Policy Compliance: SIIA will guide industrial businesses on sustainability practices, ensuring they meet evolving regulatory standards and positioning them to participate in large-scale infrastructure projects.
- 2. SIEDC Leadership in Economic Development: SIEDC will leverage its role as the borough’s primary economic development organization, industrial business expert, and policy engine to attract funding, investment, and strategic business partners focused on driving improvements to the borough. As Staten Island’s designated NYC Industrial Business Service Provider (IBSP) and manager of the West Shore Industrial Business Improvement District (WSIBID), SIEDC will also ensure that Staten Island’s industrial growth objectives align with broader regional opportunities.
- 3. A Unified Approach to Business Growth: Together, SIIA and SIEDC will create a cohesive ecosystem where industrial and economic development efforts complement one another. This approach will provide businesses with the tools and opportunities they need to compete in high-growth sectors such as renewable energy, transportation, and construction.
Michael Cusick, President & CEO of SIEDC, said, “SIEDC’s over 30-year history of supporting industrial development, business attraction, and innovative research, along with SIIA’s industry expertise, will uniquely position Staten Island to lead in sustainable infrastructure. Our shared efforts will drive meaningful growth for the borough.”
Nadia Adam, Executive Director of SIIA, stated: “This partnership is about putting Staten Island businesses at the front of the line. We’re focused on making sure local companies are not only seen, but selected—ready to meet project demands, navigate compliance, and deliver real value. By strengthening our local supply chain and aligning with SIEDC’s development efforts, we’re turning opportunity into action for the borough’s industrial sector.”
The partnership will kick off with a major initiative designed to strengthen both organizations’ impact:
