Vineyard Offshore Announces Community Liaison For New York

Aaron Siegel Will Lead Outreach and Engagement with Local Officials and Community Groups Associated with the Company’s Excelsior Wind Project

(BOSTON, MA) – Vineyard Offshore today announced that Aaron Siegel has joined the company as New York Community Liaison. Siegel will serve as primary point of contact for local municipalities and community groups to gain information and provide input on Vineyard Offshore’s Excelsior Wind project, located south of Long Island.

“Vineyard Offshore takes a community-first approach to development, creating partnerships with municipalities, community organizations, and other stakeholders for mutual benefit,” said Christian Scorzoni, Chief External Affairs Officer for Vineyard Offshore. “We are excited to have Aaron on board to engage with everyone on Long Island who has an interest in our project to bring clean, reliable, offshore wind energy to New York.”

Selected as part of New York’s historic investment in renewable energy announced in October by Governor Kathy Hochul, Excelsior Wind will provide 1.3 gigawatts (GW) of clean, affordable renewable energy, enough to power 700,000 New York homes and avoid 1.1 million metric tons of carbon pollution, equivalent to taking 225,000 cars off the road. Taking a collaborative and community-led approach, Vineyard Offshore will seek out partnerships with local workforce training institutions and other agencies. As Community Liaison, Siegel will be responsible for conducting outreach to understand stakeholder concerns and identify community partnership opportunities, with a specific focus on disadvantaged communities, environmental justice communities, and project host communities.

“I am deeply honored to join the esteemed team at Vineyard Offshore,” said Siegel. “I am excited to play a part in helping deliver renewable energy to my home state of New York. I look forward to working with my Long Island neighbors to make this project a success for everyone.”

Siegel has a B.A. degree in Public Policy from SUNY Albany. He brings over 15 years’ experience in coalition and community building to Vineyard Offshore.
