Blake Hyatt Will Manage Relationships with Labor Unions for Excelsior Wind

(BOSTON, MA) – Vineyard Offshore today announced that Blake Hyatt has joined the company as New York Labor Relations Manager. Hyatt will be responsible for managing relationships with labor unions whose members will work on the Excelsior Wind project. Vineyard Offshore was awarded the 1,300-megawatt project off the coast of Long Island by the state of New York in October.

“We value our partnership with organized labor in our offshore wind projects,” said Jennifer Cullen, Director of Labor, Workforce, and Local Content for Vineyard Offshore. “Through our first project – Vineyard Wind 1 – we have learned a lot about the importance of cultivating local leaders in offshore wind. Blake’s experience with New York’s unions and the Long Island community makes him the perfect choice to nurture this partnership for Excelsior Wind.”

“I’m thrilled to join the team at Vineyard Offshore,” said Hyatt. “Excelsior Wind is an exciting project that will create hundreds of good union jobs for New Yorkers. I look forward to working with our partners in labor to make this project a success for workers, the community, and the state of New York.”

Blake brings 18 years of experience in local government and community organizing to Vineyard Offshore. For the past five years he worked on Long Island for Suffolk County, serving as Deputy Commissioner of Labor and Assistant Deputy County Executive. He led the county’s efforts to develop the Brentwood Center, a community resource and workforce training site focused on preparing community members for careers in advanced manufacturing and offshore wind. He has also served as an Engineer Officer in the New York Army National Guard since 2016.

Blake earned a master’s in public policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Brandeis University.
