Sports Power Infrastructure and IWA Partner to Expand New York Energy and Manufacturing Workforce Opportunities

Sports Power Infrastructure (SPI) and the Institute for Workforce Advancement (IWA) have announced a Strategic Partnership Agreement to expand workforce development, supplier opportunities, and community benefit investment through sports and entertainment.

The partnership positions advanced manufacturing as a pathway to careers and small business contracting for athletes of all ages, levels, and abilities seeking education, training, employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities across New York’s growing energy, manufacturing, and technology sectors.

Workforce + Suppliers Market Report

As part of the partnership, the Workforce + Suppliers Market Report | NY Energy + Manufacturing runs August 1 through October 31 across New York City, Long Island, and the Mid-Hudson region.

Residents, workers, athletes, small businesses, suppliers, and community organizations are invited to complete a survey identifying workforce and supplier priorities, barriers, and opportunities.

Survey participants receive one entry into a sweepstakes for a chance to win premium sports and entertainment experiences and prizes. No purchase is necessary. Official Rules apply.

Preliminary findings will be presented Thursday, October 22, from 5 PM to 7 PM in Brooklyn during National Manufacturing Month, with the full Market Report published in November.

The initiative comes as New York experiences significant advanced manufacturing growth. Since the CHIPS and Science Act, the state has attracted more than $112 billion in announced advanced manufacturing investments, while manufacturers nationwide continue to face substantial workforce demand.

Community Benefit Partners

Sports Power Infrastructure is also inviting qualified nonprofit organizations to become Community Benefit Partners.

The SPIN Foundation, through the Sports Power Infrastructure Fund, manages and distributes mini grants to Community Benefit Partners across the three participating regions to support workforce development, training, and community engagement.
