Film tax credits are often measured by productions attracted, dollars spent and jobs created. But behind those numbers is a much larger economic ecosystem of film commissions, filmmakers, creators, technology companies, manufacturers and local suppliers competing for opportunities created by global film and television production.

The Local Content Film Tax Credit List was created to recognize that ecosystem.

The annual global recognition highlights the people, places, products and suppliers driving film production, investment, jobs and local economic growth across four categories: Film Commissions, Filmmakers + Creators, Film Products and Film Production Suppliers.

Film and television production increasingly intersects with technology, artificial intelligence, real estate, workforce development, manufacturing and domestic and international investment. For communities competing for productions, offering an attractive tax credit or incentive is only part of the equation. Markets also need the people, products, businesses and infrastructure capable of supporting production.

The four categories reflect that broader economy.

Film Commissions recognizes organizations and markets helping turn incentives into productions and investment. Filmmakers + Creators recognizes the people and projects driving content creation. Film Products highlights equipment, software and technologies supporting modern production. Film Production Suppliers recognizes businesses providing the goods, services and resources productions need.

Together, they answer four questions: Where should productions go? Who is creating? What are productions using? And who is supplying them?

How Voting Works

Nominations are built directly into Local Content Film Tax Credit Marketplace registration and are available to both free and paid participants. Registrants can nominate their choices across all four categories.

Nominations for the 2027 List close May 31, 2027.

Following the deadline, nominations will be reviewed and validated by the Local Content Film Tax Credit Council. Those selected for recognition will be announced during Global Film Tax Credit Week, July 13–16, 2027.

The goal is bigger than recognition. The List makes the ecosystem behind production more visible, helping connect film incentives with the people, products, suppliers and markets capable of turning production spending into lasting economic opportunity.
